A SecurityInfoWatch article suggests that retailers looking to curb the potential for employee theft start with amping up security at warehouses as, unlike storefronts, they can be more readily locked and secured. A survey by one loss prevention specialist found that 23 large retailers apprehended more than 438,000 shoplifters and dishonest employees in 2016, recovering about $120 million. To combat internal theft by employees or delivery drivers, as examples, the author highlights the use of card access readers to provide an audit trail of employee activities and deployment of biometrics in the most sensitive areas.
